Disposable Vapes With Replaceable Pods — How Pod-Swap Systems Compare (2026)

By RAZ Technical Team September 2026 Pomona CA

01.What a Disposable Vape With Replaceable Pods Actually Is

"Disposable" used to mean one thing: a sealed device with the battery, coil and e-liquid in one shell, thrown away when any of the three runs out. A pod-swap disposable splits that into two parts. The base holds the rechargeable battery, the chipset, the screen and the USB-C port, and it stays with you. The pod holds the e-liquid and the mesh coil, sealed at the factory, and it is the part you throw away. When a pod runs dry you pull it off and snap on a new one — usually magnetically — and the base keeps going.

That puts the format between the two things people usually confuse it with. A one-piece disposable (the RAZ RX 50K, LTX 25K or TN9000) has nothing to swap. A refillable pod kit ships empty pods you fill from a bottle of e-liquid yourself. Pod-swap disposables never ask you to touch liquid: the pod arrives pre-filled and leaves sealed.

Two things follow from the design. First, the base battery is sized to be recharged across many pods, and some systems (the VUE among them) put a second small cell inside the pod so it can run briefly on its own. Second, the pod count in the kit matters: a kit that ships with one pod gives you one flavor until you buy the next pod, which is why replacement pod price and flavor range are the numbers to check before the kit price.

02.2026 Pod-Swap Disposables Compared — Base Battery, Pod Size, Puffs Per Pod

The systems below all follow the base-plus-sealed-pod pattern. Figures are the makers' published specifications as of September 2026; where a maker does not publish a number the cell says so rather than guessing. RAZ is one option in this list, not the only one — the point of the table is to show where the formats differ.

Read the table with one question in mind: how much of the system is reusable? A large base battery with small pods means the reusable part carries more of the value; a small base with big pods is closer to a one-piece with a detachable battery. The VUE sits in the first camp — a 900 mAh base plus a 420 mAh cell inside each 13 mL pod, and every pod rated up to 50,000 puffs in Normal mode on its own.

03.Cost Per Puff — Pod-Swap vs One-Piece on the RAZ Line (Live Prices)

The honest version of the cost argument is that pod-swap is only cheaper if the pod is rated for enough puffs to beat a one-piece at the same price class. What it changes is what you pay for again: with a one-piece you re-buy the battery every time; with pod-swap you re-buy only the pod. Here is the RAZ line at the prices on the store right now (prices update at every site build):

PurchasePricePuffs (rating)Cost per 1,000 puffsBattery re-bought?
VUE 50K kit (base + first pod)$23.99up to 50000 (first pod, Normal)$0.48Once
VUE replacement pod (each after the kit)$16.99up to 50000 (Normal)$0.34No
VUE 50K kit + 3 pods (four pods, up to 200000 puffs)$74.96up to 200000$0.37Once
RX 50K one-piece$22.9950000 (Normal)$0.46Every device
LTX 25K one-piece$22.9925000 (Regular)$0.92Every device
TN9000 one-piece$19.999000$2.22Every device

At today's prices a VUE replacement pod is the lowest cost per 1,000 puffs in the RAZ line once you own the base, with the one-piece RX 50K close behind and the kit itself in between. On top of the per-puff math the VUE adds three things: you can run two or three flavors on one base and switch mid-day; you charge one 900 mAh base (plus the pod's own small cell) instead of carrying a fresh battery inside every device; and you discard a small pod rather than a whole device. If you would rather not manage a base at all, the RX 50K is the one-piece pick at 50,000 puffs — see the wider 50,000-puff disposable comparison for how it sits against other brands.

04.One Battery, Many Pods — The Reuse Argument

Every one-piece disposable ships a lithium cell that is thrown away at maybe a third of its useful cycle life. A pod-swap base is designed to be charged again and again across pods, so the cell does the work of several one-piece batteries before it is retired. On the VUE that base is 900 mAh, USB-C, and it also tops up the 420 mAh cell inside the pod; RAZ does not publish a charge time, and it uses the same cable and 5V/1A brick as every other RAZ, covered in the RAZ charging guide.

The trade-off is care. A base that lives in a pocket for months collects lint on the magnetic contacts, which is the most common reason a fresh pod "does not register" — wipe the pad and reseat the pod, as the pod swap steps describe. One-piece devices never have that failure mode because there is nothing to seat.

06.Pod-Swap Is Not Refillable — What "Refill" Means for RAZ

Because the pods are sealed, a pod-swap disposable is still a closed system. Nobody should try to open a VUE pod and pour liquid in: the pod has no fill port, the coil is matched to the factory fill, and a pried-open pod will leak into the magnetic contacts. When RAZ customers say "refill" they mean buying a fresh pre-filled pod, which is why the RAZ refill pod page lists all 20 pod flavors (17 in stock right now, $16.99 each). The kit itself lists 10 starter flavors; every pod fits every base.

If what you actually want is a device you fill from a bottle, that is a refillable pod kit and RAZ does not make one. If you want a sealed device with nothing to manage, a one-piece — compared model by model on the RAZ vape home page lineup table — is the simpler answer.

07.Replaceable-Pod Disposable FAQ

What is a disposable vape with replaceable pods?

A two-piece disposable: a rechargeable battery base you keep and a sealed, pre-filled pod you swap out when the e-liquid is gone. You never fill anything yourself. The RAZ VUE 50K is built this way — a 900 mAh USB-C base and 13 mL per pod magnetic pods, each with a small 420 mAh cell of its own.

Is a pod-swap disposable the same as a refillable pod vape?

No. Refillable pod kits ship empty pods you fill from a bottle. Pod-swap disposables use sealed pods that come pre-filled; when a pod is empty you snap on a new one. RAZ pods are sealed and cannot be refilled.

How many puffs does one replacement pod give?

For the RAZ VUE 50K, one 13 mL per pod pod is rated up to 50000 puffs in Normal mode and about 25,000 in Boost. Other brands rate pods differently — see the comparison table for per-pod figures where the maker publishes them.

Is pod-swap cheaper per puff than a one-piece disposable?

On the RAZ line it is, once you own the base: a VUE replacement pod is rated up to 50,000 puffs, so per 1,000 puffs it undercuts the one-piece RX 50K at today's prices, and you reuse the base instead of discarding a battery with every device. The cost table above uses the live store prices.

Can I get a zero nicotine pod for a pod-swap disposable?

For RAZ, no — VUE pods are 5% nicotine only. RAZ 0% nicotine is made on the one-piece TN9000 Zero and LTX 25K Zero. Check each maker's spec page for other systems; most pod-swap pods are sold in a single nicotine strength.
